Online Safety

How do we teach Online Safety?

At Cherry Tree we are supporting children to stay safe and make a positive contributions online, as well equipping children with effective strategies for understanding and handling online risks.

Using the National Curriculum alongside the Education for a Connected World, we cover eight different aspects of online education:

1. Self-image and Identity
2. Online relationships
3. Online reputation
4. Online bullying
5. Managing online information
6. Health, wellbeing and lifestyle
7. Privacy and security
8. Copyright and ownership

How can children stay safe online?

Always be careful when you are using the internet. It can help children to keep in touch with friends and help their education – but it can also cause harm – to theirself and to others.

Remember help is always available at school for children if they are having any problems online.

If you or anyone you know is worried about Child Exploitation, Online Protection or anything related to Internet safety please click the link below which will take you to the CEOP reporting website:

I-Vengers - Our Online Safety Super Heroes

    Engage. Educate. Empower.

Our i-Vengers have been selected from each Key Stage 2 class.  Their role is to carry out tasks which raise awareness of online issues for both the school and wider community. By challenging the way people think about being online, creating perspective in an open and enlightening way, the i-Vengers can equip everyone with the skills to make the online world a safer place.

    Tips for staying safe online:

    • Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.
    • Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
