Catch-Up/Recovery Curriculum
Return to School Curriculum Plans 2020-2021
As we approach the reopening of our school community, we acknowledge the children have all had different experiences during this time. We plan to approach our curriculum, in a way, which reflects these circumstances.
When we welcome the children back in to school, we will be focusing on re-establishing routines and relationships. Our approach will be informed by our school values, aims and the needs of our school community. We will be focusing supporting the children with their well-being by re-establishing routines, friendships, reconnecting with staff members and working with others to build positive relationships.
Activities that will help us to do that are:
- Well-being discussions and activities
- Daily physical activity
- Daily reading for pleasure time
- Problem solving activities
- Team building exercises
Once we feel that the children are ready we will begin to identify their gaps in learning and introduce more formal teaching. We recognise that whilst moving forward with our curriculum, some children may still require support with understanding and managing their feelings and emotions. This we be given for example through individual or small group support and through whole class weekly PSHCE lessons.
