Code of Compulsory School Dress
We believe that the affordability and availability of uniform should not be a barrier for anyone. Therefore, our school uniform is simple and affordable. Parents have the choice of buying branded uniform from suppliers or they can buy generic uniform from local supermarkets, such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys.
The School has a School Uniform Policy that was introduced following consultation with parents. The policy document can be found on our policies page. Branded uniform can be purchased online from 'Your School Uniform' and from our supplier Morley's Outfitters in Chaddesden (Nottingham Road).
It is not compulsory for uniform to have logos on. It can therefore be bought at local supermarkets.
We also have a selection of second hand uniform in stock. Please ask about our current stock. We also run a second-hand stall at our Summer Fair in July.
Limit on compulsory branded items
From 1 September 2026, the law limits schools to no more than 3 compulsory branded items of uniform and PE kit (including bags). At Cherry Tree Hill Primary School, no item of uniform needs to carry the school logo. The red cardigan or sweatshirt is available with the school logo for parents who would like it, but a plain red cardigan or sweatshirt from any retailer is equally acceptable — so we currently have no compulsory branded items at all, well within the legal limit. Where we do offer branded items on an optional basis, an equivalent unbranded alternative is always available, and no uniform item will be unnecessarily high-cost.

We ask for children to bring items to school in book bags and not rucksacks. This is due to a lack of space in our cloakrooms. We provide bookbags at a reduced price to all Reception children.

- Fashion clothing, fashion footwear and unnecessary jewellery (wristbands etc) are unacceptable for school.
- Extreme hairstyles are also unacceptable for school; we expect parents to make sensible choices for their children.
- All clothing must be labelled clearly with the child's name; we will not take responsibility for lost clothing items.
Each half term, we will take lost property to be recycled. It is parents' and children's responsibility to check lost property regularly.
